My Excellant Adventures With Pinmonkey

I first heard Pinmonkey on the radio and fell in love with their song, "Barbed Wire and Roses."  I had my first opportunity to see them perform in August of 2002 at a charity softball event in Peachtree City, GA, and definitely fell in love with the whole package.  They were great-looking, extremely talented, and very nice guys.  I was the first in line to meet them after the show and I think I was the only one there who already had their independently released CD.  They came back to Georgia in December of 2002 and played at Cowboys in Kennesaw.  That was an interesting show because the electricity went out right before the guys came onstage.  They were wonderful and played an acoustic set for all of us.  I first learned about the fan forum on www.pinmonkey.net at this show and I joined it the following day.  I started talking to Monica and Sharon who live in Nashville, TN, and Hartselle, AL, respectivly.  When Pinmonkey planned a date at Wild Bill's in Duluth, GA, in June of 2003, they both traveled down for the show and I got to hang out with them.  We immediately bonded and started planning our roadtrips together.  I was very lucky that night and snuck backstage and got to hang out with Pinmonkey for the first time.  They even let me go on their bus to see what it looked like.  Definitely, a night I'll never forget.  My first roadtrip was in September 2003 to Savannah, TN, which was about 360 miles from my home.  I drove to AL to pick up Sharon and we headed north to TN.  Monica met us there.  We got to see a great show at a tiny fair.  It was a long 5.5 hour drive, but it was well worth it.  A week later, Sharon and I drove up to Nashville to meet up with Monica.  We all hit the road to Pigeon Forge, TN, to see Pinmonkey perform two shows at Dollywood.  That was my first time at Dollywood and I enjoyed every minute.  I got to meet more Pinmonkey Junkies.  In October, I drove up to Nashville again to see the guys perform at the Grand Ole Opry.  That was a fun show, but it was a tough trip.  I left work at 12:00 on Tuesday and had to be back by 1:00 on Wednesday.  Unfortunately, the guys only played four songs and we didn't get to talk to them afterwards.  I don't think I can do a trip like that again.  The next trip was a big trip in December.  Monica bought me and Sharon plane tickets to Las Vegas for our Christmas presents.  They guys were playing a show at the Downtown Hoedown and Monica wanted to go so badly, so she thought she would treat her friends.  We flew to Vegas and had such a great time, gambling and drinking.  The best part was the concert, of course.  We stood in the very front and the guys recognized us from the stage.  After the concert, we got to hang out with the guys in their hotel bar.  There were about 12 Pinmonkey Junkies who flew there for the show and the guys made sure to make us all feel special.  Rick, the drummer, begged me to come to the show in Nashville the following week.  I couldn't turn that down.  A week after Vegas, I drove up to Nashville again for the last show of the year.  I'm really glad that I made that trip.  Rick saw me and said, "Yeah!  Kelli made it!"  I really felt special.  They played three new songs for the first time and we all went crazy.  We hung out at the club until they closed the place down.  What a way to end the year.  My Pinmonkey adventures will continue soon.  They are coming back to GA in a couple of weeks and my friends will be heading down here to see the show with me.  I can't wait for more roadtrips.
